Polish films in English/ Kino pod Baranami

Are you visiting Cracow and want to see some of the polish arts but not only in museums? The Kino Pod Baranami is offering the chance to watch classic Polish movies throughout Spring. All come with English subtitles so there’s no need to worry that your polish is not your native language. In April you can see two movies. First up is the recent Luiza’s Garden(2007)- April 14, Tuesday, 4.00 p.m.
An original mixture of romantic comedy and gangster film.
A story of a sensitive 18-year-old girl and a young gangster, whose fates meet in a mental hospital. The fruit of this meeting will be the start of an unique relationship. One of the best recent productions in Polish cinema: light, intelligent and with great performances by young actors.
Next in line is a classic from Andrzej Wajda, the king of Polish cinema. The Birch Wood(1970) will be screened on Tuesday 28th April. Arbert Celvoni “France Nouvelle”, write about the movie: “The Birch Wood is violence, delicacy, passion, resignation, doubt, and lust for life, even in such an ill equipped world, woven together to defy the certainty of death. … The Birch Wood is beautiful not only with the beauty of the forest landscape, but also, and above all, with an unheard of force of human gestures and emotions. A ray of sunlight is as important here as a final breath. This film, pulsating with the agony of parting gestures, is also pulsating with life.”
